What is up there
Roofline lighting is a color matched aluminum channel with LEDs set into it, fastened along the roof edge and left there. That channel is doing two things, holding the diodes and keeping them out of sight. Matched to the trim, it reads as part of the house at noon.
Not every edge needs it
The main roofline comes first, and then the design picks up whatever else earns it. Gables, dormers, porch edges, columns and upper runs are all candidates, but not all of them get used. Outline everything and the house reads flat, which is the usual mistake.The run itself is worth looking at closely on a finished job, because a straight line held over a long span is harder than it looks.
What it looks like with the lights off
The hardware does not come down, which makes daylight appearance part of what you are buying. That is why the channel gets matched to your trim rather than sold in one color. Mount it tight to the edge, match the color, and route the wire out of sight, and nothing about the daylight view changes.
What you do with it once it is up
After install the system runs from your phone. Plain white most nights, holiday color when the calendar calls for it, and a schedule that runs it without you. The setting that gets the most hours is the warm white, which is not what most buyers expect going in.
What drives the size of the job
Rooflines do not scale with house size. Linear feet is the first one, though it is rarely what separates two quotes. Every corner adds time. Two stories changes the job.

The gutter comes up in almost every consultation. The channel fastens to the roof edge itself, rather than to gutter that flexes and fills. That distinction matters since a gutter is not a permanent mounting point, and anything fastened to one inherits its problems.
